1. Property:

Borax decahydrate is odourless, flavour salty colorless translucent crystals or white clean powder.Relative density were 1.73, slightly soluble in cold water, slightly soluble in hot water. Soluble in glycerin. Slightly soluble in ethanol and carbon tetrachloride . In alkaline solution. within 60 °C lost eight crystallization water, in °C 320 when lost all crystallization water. In the air can slow weathering. During melting into a colourless glass substance.

3.Uses :  Mainly used for glass and enamel industries. In the glass, can strengthen ultraviolet transmission rate and improve the transparency and heat-resistant glass. In enamel products, can make the enamel fall off not easily and make it has burnish. In special optical glass, glass fiber, in the color of metal welding agent and jewelry binder, printing and dyeing, washing (silk and wool, etc.), gold refined products, cosmetics, pesticides, fertilizers, borax soap, preservative, antifreeze and medicine etc with disinfectant also widely used. Borax is preparing the basic materials of boron compounds
